The actor's publicist says he will leave the show -- for now -- as a 'precautionary measure'

Charlie Sheen's publicist says the actor is taking a break from the hit CBS comedy "Two and a Half Men" to go into rehab. It was not clear how Sheen's absence would affect the show's production schedule, or its airing.

"As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility," according to a statement from Stan Rosenfield. "He will take some time off his series 'Two and a Half Men.' He has asked that his privacy be honored. No further statements are planned."

Sheen's wife, Brooke Mueller, also went to a rehab facility after a Christmas domestic incident at their Apen home.

CBS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"Two and a Half Men" has a two-year renewal order from CBS.

I want him to get better, but it's gonna be a little weird to watch ''Two and a half men'' and only have the one brother when the show centers around those two characters.

I hope he can work out his problems. Clearly, the show won't be same without him. :(

Shows usually tape their season finales in March. He should've waited a few more weeks and then went into rehab since we all know it's only for show and to keep his ass out of jail.

I can't imagine how they do the show without him.

The cast is currently on a 3 week hiatus and when they return next week they still have 6 episodes to film. I wonder how many he will be absent from?

It should also be noted that Sheen's current contract cycle is up this season and this mess isn't going to look good going into negotiations

I guess it depends on how long he's in rehab. I suppose they could write him out for most of those but they would need him for the finale. They could always just focus on Alan and his son and do some sort of arc with them, if need be.

They can't do this show without him and CBS is not going to let it go. Sheen has all that on his side. If the show was beginning to trend downward and maybe was thinking of ending, I think they would just end the show but there is no way they go on without him permanently.

I agree, the show wouldnt be the same without him and CBS would never let the show go without a fight. I wonder how Warner Bros. will deal with it since they are the ones who own/produce the show for CBS?

I haven't thought of that.

I would think given the success of the show there isn't much they can do. They are sort of eating out of CS's hand.

I'd assume that they will still renew his contract but Warner Bros. won't give him his usual raise? Sheen wouldn't be in a position to negotiate and it would be a good way for WB to save money.

Obviously not everyone shares your opinion of it! Many seem to though! I haven't seen much of it but my mother loves it!
